The game will take it slow at first, introducing the player to the gameplay, and giving him a bit more plastic weaponry as he progresses. The game’s first thirty minutes give you a concise overview of Carol’s abilities, from melee combat to platforming, including of course shooting anything that feels somewhat hostile. Surprise, this is a third-person shooter, mostly inspired by the fragfests of old like Blood or Doom, and boy, what a charming love letter it is. Then the game gives you a laser pistol disguised as a hair dryer, a toy shotgun, and a very real flare gun to burn warthogs and orcs into a crisp. This game looks pretty cute, isn’t it? All colorful, telling the story of a little girl traveling through a wonderland to take back her stolen bunny plushie from a mysterious shadow, this looks like a little game made for little girls. Discover the first 4 Chapters of the adventure and Explore the first 9 areas of CreariaĬarol also got a lot of costumes you can unlock, so there is a pretty good amount of stuff you can collect already. Weapon variety and the amount of gadgets you got are crazy high, even if most guns are somewhat same-y it is still very neat. Especially the platforming is feeling pretty damn bad currently. Overall pretty enjoyable but there is still a pretty considerable amount of jank. An incredibly competent shooter from either a first or third person perspective (Serious Sam, Timesplitters, Doom Eternal), all with a certain french essence that gives the game an unique feeling (an di don’t mean that just because the games voice acting is in french) Pretty much a more cute and funny version of Serious Sam with (atrocious) platforming.
